Releasing a song called Get Into My Jeans barely a month after releasing One Night Stand one could be forgiven for thinking that I'd gone mad with lust. Actually I just wanted to do justice to two songs that I'm very fond of and they happened to coincide. They're both old songs, One Night Stand was written around 1998 and Get Into My Jeans was possibly even earlier than that, if I'm honest I don't remember writing it.
This has always been one of Dawn's favourites. It has seen a previous outing with the wonderful Liz Crawford singing the other part, but it was recorded in the early days of my producing experience and I wanted to do a better job. We occasionally let out the spare room in our house to actors working at Chester's Storyhouse and this summer we had the exceptionally-talented Rosa Lennox staying with us. Rosa is a brilliant musician, playing loads of different instruments so I was keen to ask for advice whilst recording this track at the same time hatching a plan to get them to record the second vocal part, which they very kindly did.
I'd never put a bass guitar on this before and it turned out to be the thing to really bring it all together, but it remains a pared back, groovy little investigation of the folly of youthful lust.
You can listen to Get Into My Jeans and read the lyrics below.

Get Into My Jeans
When the night is over and I'm telling you I could have scored
And you're too tired to listen, coz you know that I've just been ignored
40 days and 40 nights it's been going on for years now
A few more weeks won't matter, I'll be blessed with all the know-how
Tell me all about it, I want to know all that you know
My hand is in my pocket, I'm good at being macho
Leaning back and pumping up my image is all it seems
And this could be your lucky night to get into my jeans
I'm not right-on or coming-up I'm taking it for granted
I've seen the pictures, read the stories, this must be what you wanted
I'm not James Dean I'm not on the team I'm not your Mr Right
I only noticed you at all because your trousers are so tight
And I could tell you all about it, do you want to know all that I know
My hand is in my pocket, I'm good at being macho
Leaning back and pumping up my image is all it seems
And this could be your lucky night to get into my jeans
My skirt is up to here, my top is on the floor
At the foot of your bed and I'm crying out for more
I can tell you're a romantic coz you even turned the lights out
I'm out until the morning and I never go without
And this could be your lucky night to get into my jeans
