cover art for Bransby "Plenty More Fish In The Sea" EP

This is a really silly pop song. Amongst those cherished few who have been listening to my music from the very beginning, this is still one of my most popular tracks. It's so old it references The Spice Girls. It's bouncy, optimistic, you can sing along and it features a guitar solo by Daron Robinson who at the time of recording was the guitarist in Drugstore. He was a friend of Les' and an absolutely lovely bloke, he came in, listened to the song, played the solo and I never saw him again. It's a great solo and I'm still grateful to him for doing it.

You can listen to Rosie and read the lyrics below.

Rosie

When you know that nothing's going right
But you can't help smiling and you feel all right
When you know you've got some work to do
But the sofa's more appealing and a can of beer is too
When you've fallen and you can't get up
You've got the world in your shoulders
And you don't give a fuck
I'll be waiting with a cup of tea
To let you know that you can always shout at me

These are the finer moments in life
The moments that make you feel kind of cosy
You still haven't got what you thought that you wanted
But everything's coming up Rosie

When the telly simply aggravates
But not half as much as all your mates
When the full extent of your boredom unfurls
You know you can lie back and think of the Spice Girls
You see a young lady, you feel that tingle
You remember how good you are at staying single
I'll be waiting you can talk to me
I won't understand but then the answers are all on TV

Come on brothers, come on sisters
The hippies are back and you know that you've missed us
Bring on the love, bring on the peace
There's life in them yet, let's hear that audible sigh of relief

These are the finer moments in life
The moments that make you feel kind of cosy
You still haven't got what you thought that you wanted
But everything's coming up Rosie
